Vexlum team is part of MAPWORMS EU Pathfinder project. MAPWORMS project aims at the development of advanced robots that are inspired by marine life reacting to external light stimuli.
By combining smart reactive hydrogels with non-reactive elements, actuation units able to transduce stiffness variation into geometrical changes can be developed.
Understanding the ability of morphic materials to respond to light stimuli and achieving dynamic shape adaptation is a central part of the project.
Therefore, having access to light sources that provide flexibility to test across a large variety of wavelength and power level parameters is very important to complete the fundamental research aspects of the project.
To this end, VEXLUM will deploy its versatile laser platform based on VECSEL technology and provide laser sources with ability to tune across a wide range of wavelengths.
